12 companies push industry standards with green Power Purchase Agreement

GN Group, Bravida, Scan Global Logistics, PA Savværk og Wiking Gulve, Tempur Sealy, Labelco, Scanpan, Malte Haaning Plastic, Petersen Tegl, Blue Energy, Polyprint and Egmont join forces with Energi Danmark and have entered into an agreement to buy renewable electricity from Better Energy. The agreement means that Better Energy will build a completely new solar park.

By joining forces industry leading companies have pooled their electricity needs and entered a new power purchase agreement, which will bring additional renewable energy to the electricity grid. The agreement is a blueprint for how multiple companies can come together and contribute directly to the green transition.

"We are incredibly proud of this agreement. We have made it easy for 12 companies in our customer portfolio to make a real difference in the green transition. Our customers show us great trust, and we are pleased that we have succeeded in finding a project that is attractive to all 12 companies,” says Viggo Aavang Jensen, Head of Sales Denmark at Energi Danmark.

The Danish climate targets essentially depend on whether the renewable electricity production can keep pace with demand and the forthcoming electrification of society. Consequently, it is vital that those who consume energy also help to increase the production of green energy.

“Companies can make a world of difference in the green transition by demanding new and subsidy-free green power. By pooling their electricity needs, these 12 different companies are leading by example. Their accumulated demand will result in newly built renewable energy, which is exactly what we need to achieve our climate goals,” says Peter Munck Søe-Jensen, Executive Vice President of Power Solutions at Better Energy.

The park is expected to be completed in 2023 and will produce approx. 70,000 MWh annually, corresponding to the electricity consumption for approx. 44,000 Danes on average.
